Ongoing References...

  • [OLD]  The Doctor - The main character.  Real name: unknownactual age: unclear.  Status as a Medical Doctor:  Undetermined.  He is a Time Lord from the Planet Gallifrey.
  • [OLD]  Sonic Screwdriver - The Doctor's favourite tool.  First appeared in "Fury of the Deep" (Season 5) and has been used off and on by various Doctor including the Ninth.
  • [OLD]  Daleks - Popular villains from the time they appear in the First Doctor's second story (Season 1) and throughout the original series (see Foes: Daleks).  Thought destroyed during the Time War but at least two survived: the Metalron from "Dalek" and the Dalek Emperor from "Bad Wolf"/"The Parting of the Ways" who recreated the Dalek race using human DNA.  Another group of Daleks who had been captured by the Timelords, imprisoned and cast into the Void managed to escape in "Army of Ghosts"/"Doomsday."  These Daleks are the survivors of that group.
  • [NEW]  Psychic Paper - Used by the Doctor as fake ID, first appeared in the new Who episode "The End of the World."  It was used as a way to contact the Doctor in "New Earth."  At least one employee at Torchwood One was trained to recognise it as psychic paper in "Army of Ghosts."  The Doctor noted in "The Shakespeare Code" that William Shakespeare's ability to not see anything on the psychic paper proved he was a genius.

From Part One...

  • [OLD]  Human Daleks - In "Revelation of the Daleks"  (Season 22) Davros mutated humans to create Imperial Daleks.  In "The Parting of the Ways" the Dalek Emperor revealed that he had been harvesting Human DNA to create a new race of Daleks.
  • [NEW]  Cult of Skaro - A secret order of Daleks created by the Dalek Emperor with individual personalities to "think who the enemy thinks."  They appeared in "Army of Ghosts"/"Doomsday" where they made an emergency temporal shift to escape being sucked into the Void.
  • [NEW]  Pig Creatures - There was a "Space Pig" in the episode "Aliens of London" (actually an augmented Earth pig.  The classic series episode "The Talons of Weng Chiang" (Season 14) Mr Sin contained a pig cerebral cortex.
  • [OLD]  Dalek Slaves - The Daleks have used humans as slaves before, such as the mechanically augmented Robomen from "The Dalek Invasion of Earth" (Season 2).
  • [OTH]  Dalekanium - The metal used for Daleks armour casing.  First appeared in the 1964 book: "The Dalek Book," and then first used in the series in "The Dalek Invasion of Earth" (Season 2).
  • [OLD] New Skaro - The original Skaro was the home world of the Daleks.  First appeared in "The Daleks" (Season 1).  In "Remembrance of the Daleks" (Season 25) the Seventh Doctor used the Hand of Omega to cause Skaro's sun to go supernova, presumably destroying Skaro.  In the 22nd Century, the Daleks recognised that Skaro had been destroyed "The Dalek Invasion of Earth" (Season 2).  Later (n the Movie) the Seventh Doctor later agreed to transport the Master's remains from Skaro (which could have involved time travel.)  Here Dalek Caan suggests it was destroyed in a great war, whether he's referring to the Last Great Time War or not is unclear.

This episode...

  • [OLD] The Creator of the Daleks - Davros, who was first seen in "Genesis of the Daleks" (Season 12) which had the Doctor visiting Skaro during the creation of the Daleks.  He subsequently appeared in four other classic Doctor Who stories.

  • [OLD] Dalek Purity - The idea of Dalek purity caused a civil war between Davros's Imperial Daleks (created from humans) and the Renegade Daleks (based on Skaro) in "Revelation of the Daleks" (Season 22) and "Remembrance of the Daleks" (Season 25).

  • [OTH] Rels - A rel a Dalek unit of measure, usually time and seemingly around 1 second.  In originally appeared in the movie adaptation of "The Dalek Invasion of Earth" (Season 2), before being used in early Doctor Who comics.  The changes made between the series and Dalek movie adaptations mean they don't count as part of the classic series continuity.

  • [NEW] Emergency Temporal Shift - Previously used by the entire Cult of Skaro to flee being sucked into the Void in "Doomsday."
