Ongoing References...

  • [OLD]  Sonic Screwdriver - The Doctor's favourite tool.  First appeared in "Fury of the Deep" (Season 5) and has been used off and on by various Doctor including the Ninth.
  • [OLD]  The Doctor - The main character.  Real name: unknownactual age: unclear.  Status as a Medical Doctor:  Undetermined.  He is a Time Lord from the Planet Gallifrey.
  • [OLD]  The TARDIS - The Doctor's time and space travel vechicle.  TARDIS stands for Time And Relative Dimension(s) In Space.  Like a lot of Time Lord technology it is "bigger on the inside."  The Doctor stole his Tardis when fleeing Gallifrey.  It is an older model ("Type 40") and unreliable, often ending up in the wrong location and the chamleon circuit - designed to make the Tardis appear inconspicuous in any surroundings it appears has failed so it always appears as a police telephone box from 1960s England.

This episode...

  • [1ST]  The Torajii system - First reference to this planetary system.

  • [1ST]  Energy scoop - First appearance of this fusion engine energy source.

  • [NEW]  Deadlock Seal - Previously appeared in "Bad Wolf" (series 1) and "School Reunion" (Series 2) as reasons the Doctor couldn't use his sonic to open a door.  A similar event occurred in "The Invasion of Time" (Season 15) but no explanation was given.

  • [1ST]  Living sun - First appearance of a sentient star, but the unnamed planet in "Survival" (Season 26) had some form of sentience.

  • [OLD]  Extreme cold - In "The Space Museum" (Season 2) the First Doctor was subjected to a device that had killed everyone else it was used on.  All the cold did to the Doctor was cause his rheumatism to flare-up.
