• [NEW]  Torchwood - An organisation created by Queen Victoria after the events of "Tooth and Claw" (Doctor Who series 2)..  Torchwood-1 (London) was destroyed by the events of "Army of Ghosts"/"Doomsday" (Doctor Who series 2).  This is Torchwood-3 (Cardiff), who first appeared in "Everything Changes" (the first episode of Torchwood.)

• [TW]  Weavels -  An alien race that has slipped through the rift and infest Cardiff.    Owen seemed to have a connection with them in the Torchwood episode "Combat."

• [TW]  Jack's immortality - In the Doctor Who episode ("Parting of the Ways") he was killed by Daleks and resurrected by Rose/Bad Wolf and left in the future.  He was revealed to be immortal in "Everything Changes"

• [NEW]  Martha Jones - Former companion to the Doctor, Martha Jones, joined Torchwood in the previous episode as part of an assignment from her new employers, UNIT.

• [TW]  The Resurrection Gauntlet - Although this one is more sinister, the right hand gauntlet appeared in the first Torchwood episode "Everything Changes" and later in the first series episode "They Keep Killing Suzie" where it is destroyed when it was shot by Tosh.  That episode ended with the exchange:

IANTO:  Oh, I wouldn't be too sure. That's the thing about gloves, sir. They come in pairs.

• [TW]  The Dark Place - John, who was the first person shown resurrected by the first gauntlet in "Everything Changes" saying: "Nothing. I saw nothing. Oh, my God. There's nothing." When asked,  "What's out there?" in "They Keep Killing Suzie" Suzie stated there was "Nothing. Just nothing."  Between those to episodes, Sarah Jane and Maria Jackson were taken out of time and kept by the Triskster in "limbo" a misty white void in the Sarah Jane Adventures episode "Whatever Happened to Sarah Jane? Part Two."  Whether limbo is an afterlife or just outside time isn't clear.

• [OLD]  Death - In the Fifth Doctor story "The Visitation" (Doctor Who - Season 19) set in London in 1666, the Terileptil disguise their android as the Grim Reaper. When she returned from the dead  in "They Keep Killing Suzie," Suzie did told Jack:  "Captain, my captain. Do you want to know a secret? There's something moving in the dark and it's coming, Jack Harkness. It's coming for you." 

• [OLD]  UNIT - An military organisation which first appeared in the Second Doctor story "Invasion" (Doctor Who - Season 6)  As noted, since leaving the Doctor, Martha was begun working for them.
